crazy cake
a.k.a. texas sheet cake
Ingredients
Cake:
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 sticks oleo (Nathan: I use butter)
- 1/4 cup cocoa
- 1 cup water
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- optional: 1/2 tsp cinnamon
Icing:
- 1 stick oleo (Nathan: I use butter)
- 1/4 cup cocoa
- 4 tbsp milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 pound box confectioner’s sugar
Directions
Cake:
- Preheat oven to 400 F.
- Put in large mixing bowl 2 cups flour, 2 cups sugar.
- Heat to boiling point 2 sticks oleo, 1/4 cup cocoa, 1 cup water.
- Pour over flour and sugar and beat well.
- Add 2 eggs, 1 tsp baking soda, 1/2 cup buttermilk, 1 tsp vanilla, 1/2 tsp cinnamon; beat well.
- Pour into brownie sheet and bake 20 minutes.
Icing:
(Great Aunt Pauline: last five minutes of baking time, prepare icing.)
- In same pan you used before, put 1 stick oleo, 1/4 cup cocoa, and 4 tbsp milk. Heat to boil.
- Beat in 1 tsp vanilla,, and 1 pound box confectioner’s sugar.
- Take cake out of oven and ice while warm.
I like to eat/serve it chilled.
